Beaches in North Koh Phangan
The north side of Koh Phangan is the definition of an island getaway. It’s where you go when you really want to escape. Think secluded beaches with a bohemian vibe. You’ll find palm trees blowing in the wind and stunningly clear waters. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and offers an authentic island experience.
Haad Salad Beach
With calm and shallow water, Haad Salad is the perfect spot for families. The coral reefs off the shore make it amazing for snorkeling. There are several beachfront restaurants along the beach, making it the perfect spot to spend the day.
Bottle Beach
One of the most famous beaches in Koh Phangan, Bottle Beach is gorgeous. What makes it so special is that it is quite the journey to get here, so it is one of the most secluded beaches on the island. In order to get to Bottle Beach, you have to either take a boat, an ATV, or hike. If you’re up for the adventure, Bottle Beach is worth it.
Malibu Beach
Malibu Beach is so stunning it will take your breath away. My first time I walked to this beach through the white sand and the palm trees my jaw actually dropped by how beautiful it was. There are a few restaurants along the shore and the vibes are great with people playing volleyball. If you’re looking for that perfect Instagram shot, Malibu Beach is where you’ll find it.
Beaches in East Koh Phangan
The eastern coast of Koh Phangan is definitely the most luxurious area of the island. Here, the beaches feel more exclusive and private. The waves are a little more active and the scenery is absolutely incredible.
Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach
Thong Nai Pan Noi is known for being the most beautiful beach on Koh Phangan. With its crescent shaped shore with white sand and turquoise water, it’s easy to see why. You’ll find a few boutique hotels along the shore. Thong Nai Pan Noi is a bit more upscale than many of the other beaches on Koh Phangan.
Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach
Thong Nai Pan Noi’s neighbor, Thong Nai Pan Yai is a more laid-back option on the east side of the island. The beach here is long, making it ideal for long walks along the water. There are plenty of chill beach bars looking out at the view. It’s a great option for those that want the beauty of Thong Nai Pan without the luxury aspect you’ll find next door.
Than Sadet Beach
Bringing a unique historical aspect, Than Sadat is both gorgeous and carries a piece of Thai history. Thai Sadet is historically a favorite for Thai royalty. You can even see inscriptions etched into the rocks by the Than Sadet waterfall by a past Thai king. The beach here is laid-back and peaceful. It’s the perfect retreat for a stunning beach day.
Beaches in South Koh Phangan
The south of the island is where you’ll find most of Koh Phangan’s nightlife, but it’s not all parties and noise. There are plenty of quieter spots where you can relax by day. At night the beaches come alive, often with parties happening right in the sand.
Haad Rin Beach
Famous worldwide for its Full Moon Parties, Haad Rin is both beautiful and buzzing. By day, it’s a fantastic place for sunbathing and swimming, with soft sand and clear water. As the sun sets, the beach transforms into one of the biggest party scenes in Thailand. Even if you’re not into the Full Moon Party, the beach is worth a visit for its lively atmosphere.
Haad Yuan Beach
If you’re looking for a peaceful beach on Koh Phangan, Haad Yuan is the beach for you. With white sand and clear water, it’s perfect for swimming and sunbathing. It is a bit of a trek to get here, but it’s worth it. On the beach, you’ll find a few relaxed bars and restaurants with a chill vibe.
Leela Beach
If you’re looking for something a bit more chil than Haad Rin, head to Leela Beach. It’s just a short walk from Haad Rin but feels like a hidden retreat. The water here is calm and perfect for swimming and the atmosphere is all about peace and quiet. It’s a great spot to unwind after a night of partying or just to spend the day soaking up the sun.
Beaches in West Koh Phangan
West Koh Phangan is where you’ll find some of the island’s best sunsets. The beaches here are quieter and perfect for winding down and watching the sun go down after a day of adventure.
Ao Chao Phao Beach
Ao Chao Phao is a quiet and secluded beach that’s ideal for a peaceful day of laying in the sand and swimming. It’s not as well-known as some of the other beaches on the island, which means you’ll often have it almost to yourself. Ao Chao Phao is one of the best places to watch the sunset in Koh Phangan. There are a few casual beach bars where you can grab a drink and settle in for the evening.
Baan Tai Beach
If you’re looking for a long stretch of sand with a bit of everything, Baan Tai is your spot. It’s great for long walks and swimming in the calm water. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along the shoreline, making it a great place to spend the day relaxing with friends or meeting fellow travelers. Like many of the beaches in the west, the sunsets here are incredible.
